Working with ScienceMagic.Inc, we partnered with luxury eco-resort Soneva Fushi to create a series of immersive 360º VR experiences. Designed for travel agents, journalists and industry partners, the films showcased the Maldives resort’s world-class facilities and sustainable ethos. The aim was to bring Soneva’s barefoot luxury to life – without the need for long-haul travel.


The challenge

Soneva Fushi, the Maldives’ first barefoot luxury resort, wanted to share its story of sustainability, innovation and extraordinary guest experiences with global audiences. However, flying industry partners and media to the resort was costly and environmentally unsustainable. The challenge was to create a format that captured the resort’s beauty, atmosphere and ethos authentically – while aligning with its eco-conscious values. Any solution needed to be versatile enough for industry events and trade shows, while also resonating online. ScienceMagic.Inc approached us to help design an experience that would allow people to explore the resort virtually – and still feel transported.

The process

Our team spent a week on location filming across the resort, from fine dining restaurants and coral reef snorkelling to luxury villas, children’s facilities and even Soneva’s private yacht. Each video told a distinct story, culminating in a brand film narrated by founder Sonu Shivdasani. We filmed in stereo 3D to heighten immersion, integrating ambient soundscapes and natural guest experiences such as diving or using the water slides. Back in the studio, we edited five standalone films plus a compilation version, added voiceovers and refined production to match the resort’s exclusivity. Finally, we built a custom VR app for Pico headsets providing a seamless experience for viewing.

The outcome

The films offered audiences an authentic glimpse of Soneva Fushi’s ethos and experiences without requiring a single flight. Agents and media could step into the resort virtually – exploring villas, activities and sustainability initiatives in immersive detail. The VR experiences were deployed at trade shows, industry events and online, helping Soneva reach new audiences while reducing its environmental impact. By combining cinematic storytelling with cutting-edge VR technology, the project provided an innovative, cost-effective alternative to traditional PR trips. The result was a powerful showcase of luxury travel that highlighted both the spirit of the Maldives and Soneva’s eco-first philosophy.
