Capturing the thrill of high-speed driving in immersive 360°
Lotus Driving Academy offers a range of exhilarating courses at Hethel, from intensive driver training to unforgettable passenger experiences. We were tasked with creating a promotional film that captured the excitement of the track. Using 360º video and drone footage, we gave viewers a taste of the speed, scale and adrenaline that make the Academy unique.
The challenge
Lotus Driving Academy provides Lotus owners and enthusiasts with experiences that range from professional three-day training courses to thrilling one-off sessions such as ‘Scare Yourself Sensible’. Each offering is designed to showcase the power and precision of Lotus cars, combined with expert tuition and heritage insights. The challenge was to communicate this variety of experiences in a way that was both authentic and enticing. Lotus needed a promotional tool that could capture the excitement and scale of the track while showing potential customers exactly what awaited them – an unforgettable chance to take the wheel of an iconic sports car.

The process
We produced a 360º video designed to place viewers directly in the middle of the action. Camera rigs were mounted on both a Lotus Elise and a Lotus Exige, capturing everything from tight slaloms to dramatic overtakes at full speed. To complement the on-board perspective, we used drone footage to show the track from above – emphasising its scale, long straights and challenging corners. The combination of immersive views and aerial context created a dynamic, engaging film that highlighted both the cars’ performance and the track’s appeal. The finished video was distributed online and via VR headsets.

The outcome
The 360º video gave Lotus Driving Academy a compelling promotional asset that conveyed the adrenaline and energy of their courses. By combining on-board action with sweeping aerial shots, the film delivered an immersive taste of what customers could expect – from the thrill of driving iconic Lotus sports cars to experiencing Hethel’s challenging track. Shared online and used in headset-based marketing, the video effectively inspired potential participants to book, providing an impactful way to showcase the Academy’s unique blend of high-speed performance and expert instruction. It demonstrated the power of immersive media in selling unforgettable experiences.
