We’ve been waiting to share this with you for a long time, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: the playable demo of our fan-favourite XIST game, The Warp, is now available on SteamVR! Called The Warp: Cephisso, the 20-minute demo is just a sneak peek of the full game due to be released later this year.

For years, The Warp has been our most loved experience in the Xist free-roam arena. People don’t always expect an AAA-quality narrative in a location-based VR game, but The Warp has shocked and delighted everyone brave enough to don the headset and face the Stalkbornes.

Until now, the only way to experience The Warp was to visit one of the XIST locations, but today we’ve taken everything we’ve learned from years of building deeply immersive VR narratives in arenas and we’re bringing it into your living room.

“We’re excited to finally bring our most beloved arena experience directly into the homes of VR players worldwide,” said James Burrows, Founder of Infinite Form. “With The Warp: Cephisso, we’re combining our signature free-roam immersion with a deeply narrative, sci-fi horror story designed to push PCVR to its limits.”

It hasn’t been easy! There have been many late nights, cups of coffee, and hours of playtesting to keep the same sense of dread, movement, and discovery in a smaller home setup. The result is a sci-fi horror survival adventure that feels just as intense as the arena version, but accessible to everyone with a VR headset and a PC.

"Having previously worked on The Warp for our VR arena, there’s always been this thought nagging at the back of my mind: what if we brought this story home? Now, nearly five years later, we're back - armed with a new engine, a deeper understanding of game design, and the tools to finally bring the Cephisso to life the way we always imagined. With dynamic lighting and rich visual effects pushing the atmosphere to new heights (things that were once held back by hardware limits), we’re finally letting go of the reins and kicking this narrative survival horror into gear."
Graham Jones, Lead Technical Artist - Infinite Form

We’re dedicated to building this game not just for VR players, but with them. Early player feedback will be invaluable in shaping the game’s mechanics, environments, and chilling encounters into an unforgettable sci-fi horror experience, so your thoughts and feedback are truly valuable.

See you aboard the Cephisso!
