A quick guide to... Creative animation
Immersive technology is versatile and varied, offering a whole range of practical uses that make our lives easier, from virtual events to AR apps. In our ‘Quick guide’ blog series, we take a look at some of the services we offer here at Infinite Form to help you understand the types of experiences available – and how they benefit you. Here we look at how creative animation can bring a message alive through efficient and effective storytelling.
What is animation?
Animation is a method in which illustrations or 3D assets are manipulated to appear as moving images. Most animations today are made using computer-generated imagery and are used to tell a story in a simple and effective way – with or without sound.
Why choose animation?
Animation enables you to convey a lot of information visually. With a blank slate to work on, you don’t have the same constraints as film – letting you create your own world and tell your own story from scratch. It offers a quick and efficient way of communicating a complex subject as well as being a visually engaging medium that grabs a viewer’s attention.
What are the benefits?
Animation can be used for anything from a quick social media video to a web AR brand experience to a full-scale immersive VR experience. It can also be used to enhance filmed footage in both 2D and 360º. And because styles of animation vary so much over both 2D and 3D, you can be sure to find a style that suits your budget.
Anything animated is instantly engaging and easily shareable. Add that to the endless creative possibilities that animation offers and you have a medium that’s not only instantly attention-grabbing but allows you to tell your story in the way that you want, with the look that you want. It’s useful too, particularly when you need to explain a technical or complex concept in a way that’s easy to understand, or when you need to ensure a hard-hitting story is still family-friendly – such as the animation we created for Redwings.
Animated content can easily be updated without costly reshoots – making animation a cost-effective longer-term solution, especially for 2D experiences. This in turn allows you to respond quickly and effectively to keep your content up-to-date and relevant, which is more important than ever in today’s rapidly changing times.
How do we do it?
We offer a range of animation capabilities spanning traditional and 2D animation to CG projects. Our team can handle every stage of the creative process, from initial concepts to final delivery, with experts including storyboard artists, concept artists, scriptwriters, directors and animators who can put your project together.
